Being introspective and going within for answers is a lifelong journey. It is a process of first realizing that we are responsible for our own physical, mental and spiritual health. It starts with the way we perceive ourselves and develops into a realization that we can develop tools to learn how to take better care of ourselves.
By being aware of what makes us happy, what upsets us, what takes us to a dark place, we can find solutions to change our mood. Sometimes we need to feel our feelings and have a good cry and talk to a friend who understands. Sometimes we may need solitude and study to further our understanding of ourselves.
Engaging in activities that raise our energy, such as exercise, meditation, watching a silly movie, or starting a new hobby are all ways that make us feel better. Self care is essential to a happy life. If we don't take care of ourselves first, we won't be effective at helping anyone else. Some of us are human doings and we need to remember that we are human beings. We are worthy of respect just the way that we are. If you love and respect yourself, you are less likely to let others treat you with disrespect.
Sometimes we have emotional baggage to overcome. With love, patience and understanding, we can get to a place of peace with ourselves and others. Sometimes this involves forgiving ourselves for accepting less than we deserve. Sometimes it involves forgiving others, not because they didn't do something wrong, but because our peace of mind is more important than what they did. Forgiveness is a gift that we give to ourselves.
I have made a pact with myself that I will do something new every month. This could be experiencing a sound bath, doing goat yoga, learning to cook, or participating in a group meditation online. You can make a list of whatever interests you and check something off your list. The more you learn about embracing the journey within and honoring your path, the more peace and fulfillment you will find.
I wish you peace and serenity as you walk your path.
